Relationships

Father: Ebal (I), lord of Mont.

The Dictionnaire historique de la Suisse identifies the Eble of this page as Ebal II. It seems he is basing this on an article by J.-P. Chapuiset, “Un cadet vaudois en Gascogne et à Windsor”, which I have not seen. De Charrière notes (pp. 21-22) that the Ebal des Monts who shows up in London was a son of Ebal (I). However, he states that it is not known whether Ebal II married or had children.

Mother: Béatrice.

In charter number 13 (dated 30 January 1237) in Cartulaires de la chartreuse d’Oujon, Ebal, lord of Mont, mentions his wife Beatrice and his sons Henry and Ebal.

Spouse: Joan.

This relationship is given by the Complete Peerage (12:1:352, 353, as modified by volume 14; cited in Some Corrections and Additions to the Complete Peerage.) The CP suggests that she was a de Beche. Douglas Richardson, in a series of posts to soc.genealogy.medieval, argues that she was the daughter of Savary de Bohun of Midhurst, Sussex, and Cecily fitz Geoffrey.

Children:

(Complete source citations for facts about the children on this page are currently outside of the scope of this project.)

Eleanor married John (V) le Strange.
