Schieffer and Settipani (p. 270) give a birth date of about 835. Heidecker (p. 51) argues that Lothair was about 18 in 855.

Heidecker (p. 52) notes that Lothair's relationship with Waldrade began before his marriage to Theutberge, whom he was forced to marry.
