William’s will:


In the name of God amen the nynetenth day of July in the yere of our Lord God one Thousand fyve hundred Fowerscore sixe and in the xxviijth yere of the raigne of our soverainge Ladie Elizabeth by the grace of God of England France and Ireland Queene defendor of the faithe &c I Willm Kinge of Payneswicke in the County & Diocese of Gloucester husbandman being sicke and weake in bodie, but whole in minde & of p[er]fect remembrance (the name of God be praised therefore) Doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in manner and forme folowing, That is to say First I render and geve againe into the mercie of the lord my god my Spirite, which he of his fatherlie goodnes gave unto me, nothing doubting but that he for his mercies sake In sett forth in the precious bloude of his deare sonne Christ Jesus our alone Saviour & Redemer will receive my soule into his glory, and place it in the companie of the heavenlie Angells & blessed Saints: And as concerning my bodie, even with a good will and free heart I geve it over, com[m]ending it to the earth whereof it came, and to be buried in the Church yard of Payneswicke aforesaid, not doubting, but that according to the Article of our faith at the great day of the generall resurraction when wee shall all appeare before the iudgement seat of Christ, I shall receive it againe immortall by the mightie power of God. As touching my temporall goodes I give will and bequeath unto Alice Kinge my daughter the som[m]e of Fyve poundes of lawfull money of England, to be paide unto her by Richard my sonne with in sixe yeres next after my decease. Item I further geve unto & bequeath unto Alice kinge my said daughter; One flock bedd, one paire of sheetes one kevering, one paire of blanketts, one bolster, one heighfor or bullocke of twoe yeres old and the vauntage; and Tenne sheepe, wherof fyve to be delivered to her the first yere, and the other fyve in the second yere next after my decesse. And all the other last recited premissed at & upon the day of her marriage or if she shall happen not to marry, then to have them at the decesse of Margaret my Wife. Item I geve will & bequeath unto Julian my daughter the some of Fyve poundes of lawfull money of England, to be paide unto her by Richard my said sonne, within sixe yeres next after my decesse. Item I further geve and bequeath unto Julian King my said daughter, One flocke bedd, one paire of sheetes, one kevering, one paire of blanketts, one bolster, one heighfor or bullocke of twoe yeres and the vauntage, and Tenne sheep whereof fyve to be delivered to her the first yere, and the other Fyve in the second yere next after my decesse: And all other the premisss at the day of her mariage, or if she shall happen not to marrie, then to have them at the decess of Margret my Wife. and if either of my said daughters shall happen to dye before the receipt of their severall Legacies Then my will is that her p[ar]te and porcon so dying shall remaine and come to the other surviving Item I geve & bequeath to Willm Kinge the sonne of Thomas Kinge my sonne one Ewe & a lambe, to be delivered to him within one yere next after my decesse Item I geve and bequeath to Fraunces Adams the sonne of Thomas Adams my sonne in lawe one Ewe and a lambe, to be delivered to him within one yeare next after my decesse. Item I geve and bequeath unto William King the sonne of Willm King my sonne one sheepe, to be delivered to him within twoe yeres next after my decesse. Item I geve and bequeath unto Thomas Gardiner of payneswicke aforesaid yeoman, and to John Poole of the same Cordiner Twenty pence a peece, whom I make ordaine & appoint Overseers of and to this my last will and Testament. All the residewe of my goodes whatsoever moveable and unmoveable, not geven nor bequeathed (my debts legacies and fines all discarged) I geve and bequeath unto Margaret my wife, whome I doe make ordeine and appoint my only & sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament. Witnes per Thomas Gardiner, John Poole Cordiner, John Twyninge thelder, Thomas Kinge & Leonard Prestwood minister there. and the writer hereof
