Evidence

According to Keats-Rohan, William “ was associated in England and Normandy with Stephen count of Aumale, lord of Holderness and successor of Drogo de Beuvrière. He occurs as a benefactor of the abbey of Selincourt, diocese of Amiens, with his men Ingeran de Belnay and Renold de Gislebert-Mesnil (Gall. Chris. vi, inst. 304-5). The family also held land near Aumale at Ellecourt from, or by grant of, the counts of Aumale (Delisle, Rec. Henri II, ii, 212).”
