Commentary
Elizabeth’s parentage
George Nichols was a witness to a codicil to the 1771 will of Elizabeth’s father-in-law Francis Yerrow. George had been married in Burton Dassett in 1760, shortly after Elizabeth. This was probably the George Nichols who had been baptized in 1726 in Burton Dassett, the son of Robert Nichols and Ann Field. Robert and Ann had been married in Burton Dassett in 1720, and, besides George had children baptized in 1721, 1723, and 1731.
Elizabeth’s February 1760 marriage bond gives her age as 24, implying a birth date of about 1735. Her gravestone gives her age at her death in 1798 as 67, implying an age of about 1731.
“Robert Nicholls of Northend” was buried in Burton Dassett in 1762.
It seems plausible that Elizabeth was a daughter of Robert Nichols and Anne Fields, but more evidence would need to come to light for this to be considered proven.
