This relationship is given by White (ODNB) and by Keats-Rohan (1999, p. 272; 2002, p. 331). The relationship is recorded in a history of the descendants of the founders of the Abbey of Llanthony given in Dugdale (6:134). Humphrey “with the beard” came to England with William the Conqueror.

Mother: unknown.

Humphrey with the beard had at least three wives, none of whom are known.


Spouse: Maud, daughter of Edward of Salisbury.
