Relationships

Father: Samuel Hinde.

Samuel’s baptism record names his father.

Mother: Martha.

Samuel’s baptism record gives the name Martha as his mother’s name.

Spouse: Martha Drape (born about 1732). Probably married shortly after 10 January 1752 in Whitehaven.

The marriage bond is dated 10 January and gives the intended place of marriage as the “old Chapel” (St Nicholas’), Whitehaven.

Children:

(Complete source citations for facts about the children on this page are currently outside of the scope of this project. All children were baptized at St Nicholas’ in Whitehaven.)

Rachal Hinde (baptized 29 October 1752).

Martha Hinde (baptized 26 June 1757).

Isaac Hinde (baptized 21 August 1764 - buried 19 September 1818) married Jane Lancaster 1 July 1786 in Whitehaven.

Agness Hinde (baptized 7 August 1767).

John Hinde (baptized 20 October 1769) married Esther Haddon 8 September 1787 in St Bees, Cumberland.

Samuel Hinde (baptized 25 September 1770).

Thomas Hinde (baptized 23 July 1773).

Betty Hinde (baptized 23 September 1781). The baptism date seems a little late for Martha Drape to be her mother. Perhaps Betty was born a few years earlier, or perhaps her mother is a different Martha. On the other hand, forty-nine is not an impossible age for a mother to give birth.
