This relationship is given by Stringer (ODNB), by Keats-Rohan (p. 239, p. 776), and by Hollister (ODNB). It is recorded by Ordericus Vitalis in his Historia Ecclesiastica (13:19). John of Hexham, writing in the late 12th century, (Arnold p. 300) calls Ada the sister of William (III) de Warenne.

Mother: Isabel de Vermandois (died 1147).

Spouse: Henry of Scotland (about 1115 - 1152), earl of Northumberland. Married 1139.
