This relationship is shown by Bartrum (“Edwin 1”) and given by Thornton (ODNB “Owain ab Edwin”). It is recorded in Brut y Tywysogion s.a.1113.
Mother: uncertain.
Some sources give Angharad ferch Maredudd. However, Bartrum, in a handwritten note in EVWG (“Early Series” [47]) states that Iwerydd had a different mother from Bleddyn ap Cynfyn, whose mother was Angharad. This is explicitly stated in Brut y Tywysogion s.a.1113. Maund (1991, p. 76) notes that there could be political reasons both for giving Angharad and Iwerydd's mother and for denying that she was. Maund is "slightly more inclined" to accept the evidence of the Brutiau that she wasn't.
