Relationships

(probable) Father: Roger Smith.

(probable) Mother: Margery.

Roger Smith mentions his son Thomas and his wife Margery in his will. There was more than one Thomas Smith in Stourbridge in the period. It seems probable that the Thomas whose father was Roger was the one who had a son named Roger.

Spouse: Margaret or Alice.

There are two recorded burials in the period of wives of Thomas Smith: Margaret was buried 11 September 1623 and Alice was buried 19 June 1624. There were at least two Thomas Smiths having children baptized in Old Swinford in the early 1600s. It is not clear which wife was the wife of the Thomas Smith of this page.

Commentary

Although Roger Smith is not mentioned in Thomas's will, I am assuming Roger is Thomas's son as the inventory shows that Roger was in possession of most of Thomas's property at the time of his death (or shortly after). The father of the only Roger Smith baptized in Old Swinford after 1602 (when the extant registers begin) was named Thomas.
