Roger’s will


In the name of god Amen The xxviijth day of Octobr in the yeare of or Lord God one thousand five hundreth nynetye and seven. Etc. I Roger Smith of Sturbridge in the County of Worcester yeoman, beinge of whole minde, and in good & perfitt remembrance, laud & praise be unto Allmighty god make and ordaine this my present Testament concerninge herin my last will in man[ner] and forme followinge. That is to say. First I commend my soule unto Allmighty God my maker & redeemer and my body to be buryed in the p[ar]ishe church or churchyard of Old Swinford in the county of Worcester. Allso I give and bequeath unto my sonne Robert Smith xxxli. to be paid by my sonne Thomas Smith unto him for the which he standeth bound unto me be a bill Obligatory. Allso I give unto my sonne John Smith all rentes due unto me from which of im are yet unpaid unto me by vertue of a Lease to him by me graunted ./. Item I will that my sonne John shall discharge the bonds wherin I stand bound unto Mr Harberry of London, and I will that he shall receive all rentes and profitts due unto me by vertue of Leases made me from Thomas Ellcockes All the rest of my goods whatsoever moveable and unmoveable unbequeathed my debtes beinge discharged, and the charges of my funerall discharged I bequeath unto Margery my wife whome I make my full and sole executrix. These beinge witnesses to this my present will & Testament the day and yeare above written
