Farrer (HKF 3, p. 371) and Clay (pp. 36-37) give evidence for this relationship. Clay notes that Ranulf was a member of the Warenne family, but it is difficult to be certain of his identity.
Mother: unknown.
Spouse: Emma.
Emma’s name is recorded in a charter by which “Willielmus de Warein filius Randulfi” attempted to give a moiety of the church of Halstead, Essex, to Lilleshall abbey, Shropshire, for the health of his soul and of Emma his wife. (Clay, p. 36; Eyton, pp. 17-18, citing the Lilleshall Chartulary, f. 75.)
