Commentary
Betty’s parentage:
In her 17 November 1831 burial record, Betty’s age is recorded as 50. In the baptism records of several of her children, Betty’s parents are recorded as “Roger & Betty Almond” or “Roger & Elizabeth Almond”.
In her marriage allegation, Roger Almond signs an oath that he is Betty’s natural and lawful father. (Betty was the widow of Andrew Livsey.)
Taken together this evidence allows the identification of Betty’s baptism in the Wigan register. The entry shows that Betty was the daughter of Roger Almond and Betty Laithwait, and that Betty Laitwait was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Laithwait.
