Relationships

Father: Renaud I, count of Bar.

This relationship is given by Poull (p. 103) and by Mathieu (p. 28).

Mother: Gisèle de Vaudémont.

This relationship is given by Poull (p. 103) and by Mathieu (p. 28).

Spouse: a son of Pierre, count of Dammartin.

This relationship is suggested by Mathieu (p. 30). This spouse is often given as Lancelin de Bulles. Mathieu (p. 29) argues that this is impossible since Lancelin’s widow Adéläide was alive in 1134, and it was through her that Lancelin held his rights to Dammartin. Mathieu (p. 30) also rejects the hypothesis that this spouse was a hypothetical son, Aubry, of the same Adéläide through a previous marriage of hers to Aubri Payen de Mello: this hypothesis was meant to account for the name of Aubry II, but Aubry II’s father, Aubry le Chambrier, is known to have been still alive after the death of Renaud.

Spouse: Renaud II, count of Clermont. Married about 1135.

This relationship is given by Poull (p. 103) and by Mathieu (p. 28).

(possible) Spouse: Thibaut (III) de Crépy.

This is given by Poull (p. 103).
