Evidence


On Alice’s mother’s family:


A pedigree in Harl. MS. 6128 fo. 25b gives Henry Folliolde’s father as “Johannes Folliolde, son of Richard Folliolde, 1 Edw. II., son of Rogerus de Folliold.


There was a Fillilode family living in Alveley, Shropshire, in the period, with a connection to Astley which the Harl. 6128 pedigree also has, with some differences, but I haven’t found any more specific corroboration.

Inq. taken at Alvythel’, 6 March, 4 Richard II.

She held the under-mentioned messuage, land and rent etc. to herself and the heirs of her body.

Asteley. A messuage, a watermill, a carucate of land, 2 a. meadow, 1 a. pasture and 1 a. wood.

Asteley and Nordleye. 30s. rent.

The above are held of the king in chief by service of providing a man riding with the king for forty days at his own costs when there is war in Wales.

Remesley. A carucate of land, held of Roger Power, service not known; and half a virgate of land, worth nothing because common, held of Roger Corbet, service not known.

Alvytheley. A croft and 1 a. land, held of Thomas de Alvytheley, service not known.

Nordeley. A nook of land and 8 a. land, held of Roger atte Lee, service not known.

She died on 25 December last. John, son of John de Fillod her son, aged 7 years and more, is her heir.
