Commentary
There were many Elizabeth Hunts baptized in Worcestershire in the correct period, but only one in Halesowen – in 1718/9. Most of the others were not baptized very close to Halesowen. An additional reason to suppose that this is the correct baptism is that the baptism entry records the abode as Illey. Elizabeth’s son John Penn was recorded as living in Frankley in the 1770s and later, which is only a couple of hundred of metres away.
The parish register records Elizabeth’s parents as Joseph and Mary Hunt, but the bishop’s transcripts give Joseph and Elizabeth Hunt. The parish register is probably correct, as the register also records the marriage in April 1718 of Joseph Hunt and Mary Chandler.
However, there is a difficulty in assigning the 1718/9 baptism to the Elizabeth of this page with certainty: another Elizabeth Hunt was married in Halesowen in 1744, and I don’t think I can rule out that the 1718/9 baptism is hers.
