Relationships

Father: William Chalcroft

The will of Joan Chalcrofte (Plommer) makes it clear that Elizabeth Chalcroft was the sister of a Joan Chalcroft who married James Tonge. Joan and James’s marriage licence (Cowper 1894, p. 994) names Joan’s father as William Chalcroft. William is also named in Elizabeth’s baptism record. The will of William Chalcroft names his son in law Thomas Henman and also makes a bequest to William Henman "my daughters sonne." The will of Thomas Chalcroft of Bredgar (PCC 1637) mentions his "brother" Thomas Henman, and names as his siblings a few of the children of William Chalcroft and Joan.

Mother: Joan Plommer

The 1629 will of Joan Chalcroft mentions Elizabeth, her "beloved daughter wife of Thomas Henman" and mentions Thomas's and Elizabeth's children. The will of Joan's father mentions his daughter Joan Chalcroft, his daughter's husband William Chalcroft, and their children, including Elizabeth.

Spouse: Thomas Henman. Married 30 May 1601 in Willesborough, Kent.

The marriage is given in a transcription of the parish register by the Kent Family History Society. It states that Thomas was a bachelor and Elizabeth was a spinster. The wills of Thomas Henman and several of his children mention Chalcroft relatives. The will of Elizabeth's mother Joan names her son-in-law Thomas Henman.
