Baldwin discusses conjectures. Hugues is known to be a descendant of Aldalric (Eticho), a 7th century duke of Alsace, and his wife, Berswinda.
Mother: unknown.
Spouse: Ève (died 4 or 5 September 839).
This relationship is given by Baldwin, who notes that Matfrid, count of Orléans, has been conjectured to be her brother. Wilsdorf (p. 9) calls her Ava.
