Commentary

My best guess is that Peter was a son of the Lionel Swift of Skelmersdale who had a daughter Ellen buried in Ormskirk in 1681, and two sons baptized there, James in 1682, and Henry in 1686. James later moved to Rainford and Henry to Bickerstaffe. James and Henry both had sons named Peter, and Peter had sons named James and Henry, as well as Lionel. The elder Lionel Swift was probably baptized in Ormskirk in 1638, a son of James Swift.
