This relationship is given by the Lancashire VCH (Vol. 5, sub Little, Middle and Over Hulton), in the 1567 Visitation of Lancashire (p. 28), and in the 1533 Visitation (p. 209). A papal dispensation was required, since Adam and Alice were related in the fourth degree.
