This date is given in Annales Cambriæ (Williams p. 20). Brut y Tywysogion (pp. 28-29) gives 983. Bartrum (EVWG [42]) gives 984.

Father: Owain ap Hywel Dda ap Cadell (died 988).

This relationship is shown by Bartrum (EVWG [42]), and given by Maund (1991, pp. 14-17; 2000, p. 54), and by Lloyd (1:345). It is recorded in Brut y Tywysogion (Williams, pp. 24-29) and Annales Cambriæ (Williams, pp. 19-20)

Mother: uncertain.

Bartrum does not specify which of Owain’s wives was the mother of Einion. In any case, he notes (EWGT p. 141) that the relationships were probably invented.
