Spouse: Isabel Marshal. Married 30 March 1231 at Fawley, Buckinghamshire.

This relationship is given by the Complete Peerage (3:431) and by Vincent. Isabel was the widow of Gilbert de Clare, earl of Gloucester and Hertford. She died 17 January 1239/40.


Spouse: Sanchia of Provence. Married 22 November 1243 in Westminster Abbey.

This relationship is given by the Complete Peerage (3:431) and by Vincent. Sanchia was crowned Queen with Richard. She died 9 November 1261.


Spouse: Beatrice of Falkenburg. Married 16 June 1269 at Kaiserslauthern.

This relationship is given by the Complete Peerage (3:431) and by Vincent. Beatrice died 17 October 1277.

Isabel of Cornwall (born about 9 September 1233 at Marlow - died 6 October 1234, buried at Reading Abbey)


Henry of Cornwall (born 2 November 1235 - murdered 13 March 1270/1 at Viterbo, Italy, buried at Hailes Abbey, Gloucestershire). Henry was usually known as “Henry of Almain” (Almain = Germany). Married Constance de Moncada 15 May 1269 at Windsor.


Nicholas of Cornwall (born and died 17 January 1239/40 at Berkhamstead Castle, buried at Beaulieu Abbey).


Children (by Sanchia):

Edmund, 2nd earl of Cornwall (born 26 December 1249 - died shortly before 26 September 1300 at the Abbey of Ashbridge, Buckinghamshire). Known as “Edmund of Almain”. Married Margaret de Clare 6 October 1272 in the chapel at Ruislip, Middlesex. Divorced 1294.

Joan de Cornwall married Richard Champernowne of Modbury.


Sir Richard de Cornwall (died 1296 at the siege of Berwick) married Joan.
