Also known as Eustace aux Gernons.


Eustace’s participation in William the Conqueror’s invasion of England led to him becoming one of the largest landholders there.

Murray (p. 29 fn 109) states, “There is no agreement as to the date of death of Eustace II.” The date is given as either soon after 1170 or in 1187.

Eustace III, count of Boulogne, married Mary of Scotland.


Godfrey IV (about 1060 - 18 July 1100), duke of Lower Lorraine, princeps of Jerusalem. Usually known simply as “Godfrey of Bouillon”, he was regarded in the later Middle Ages as one of the Nine Worthies.


Baldwin I (died 2 April 1118), count of Edessa, King of Jerusalem, married (1) Godechilde of Tosny; married (2) a daughter of Taphnuz, ruler of Marash; married (3) Adelaide of Vasto.
