Eyton (7:222) holds that Alan was dead by 1114, but Round (pp. 128 - 131) disagrees.

Round (p. 129) gives Flaald's father as another Alan. Fox argues that Flaald was the son of Hato, knight of Dol, and that Flaald's mother was a daughter of Tehel and Inoguen, a daughter of Hamo I, viscount of Alet.

Spouse: Avelina de Hesdin.

This relationship is given by Keats-Rohan (p. 515, p. 886) and by Phillips (FitzAlan (of Oswestry)).
