Hauerkecote. The hamlet (extent given), held jointly by the said Hugh and Aline his wife, of the gift of William Canne who enfeoffed them by the king’s licence, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Hugh, of the king in chief as by escheat, by reason of the death of Roger de Bechlem, sometime earl of Shrewsbury, by service of finding a man with a bow, two arrows, and a bolt (petulio) in the king’s army against Wales, who on seeing the king’s enemies shall shoot his arrows at them and straightway return home with the bow and bolt.

Wheteneaston. The manor (extent given), held by the said Hugh of the earl of Arundell by service of 1 knight’s fee.

Great Wythiford. The manor (extent given), a moiety held by the said Hugh of the said earl by service of 1/2 knight’s fee at the castle of Ruton; and the other moiety held of Sir William le Boteler by service of finding a man with a lance at Wemne for 20 days when there shall be war in Wales, and if the garrison leave the castle he shall remain to guard the fire.

Little Wythiford. 5s. rent held of Thomas de Halghton, who is in the king’s wardship, by service of homage and fealty.

Thomas his son, aged 17 on the feast of the Purification last, is his next heir.

Memorandum by the escheator. He held no other lands &c. in the bailiwick.
