from the Frinsted parish register:

1574

Agnes Henman was baptized the xth day of October.

[The baptism was also recorded in Lenham on the same day, where the name is Ann, and the father William is named.]

from the Calendar of Patent Rolls:

C. 66/1161

1463.) 1 Oct. 1577. Gorbambury. Licence for Henry Cheyne, knight, lord Cheyne of Toddington, to alienate lands in the parish of Mynster in the isle of Scapei alias Shepei, co. Kent, to William Henman and Thomas Henman. For £3 6s. 8d. paid to the Queen’s farmer.

Commentary

I am not certain the above entry from the patent rolls concerns the William of this page (but I think it probably does.)

Halsted (5:sub Lenham) states that Fulk de Peyforer sold Syndane, in the parish of Lenham, to a Henman in the latter part of the reign of Edward III, and that it continued in the family until Allen Henman sold most of it in the reign of Queen Anne. William's son Thomas possessed Syndane, and there are records of earlier Henmans living in Lenham, but I am not sure how exactly the descent goes.
