Commentary
Robert’s parentage
The 1724 baptism in Whitehaven is the only plausible baptism I have found for Robert. (The age of 21 given in his 1763 marriage bond simply indicates that he had reached the age of majority, not that he was actually 21 years old.) The baptism entry records Robert’s parents as Robert and Mary Kennedy.
Robert and Mary had children baptized starting in 1720. Robert Kennedy and Mary Garget married in 1719 in St Bees.
