Evidence

Information from Alice’s will (Abstracted by Cliff Webb. The testatrix’s name is missing from the Findmypast transcription, but it seems fairly clear from the will that the testatrix must be the widow of William Steere.):

Husband William [Stere].

She mentions her sons William Stere, Edmund Stere, and John Stere, and her daughters Elizabeth Stere and Alice. She also mentions her three sons and her three eldest daughters, implying she has some daughters who are unnamed in the will. The relationship of these people to the testatrix is unspecified:

John Hether’s two children (given a three-year-old heifer);

John Batchelor (given two two-year-old bullocks) and his wife (given clothing);

Thomas Stere of Capel (given cloth and wheat and malt);

Robert Astone’s wife (given clothing)

Old mother Nytingale (given clothing)

Witnesses: John Shoo and John Batchelor

Proved 27 March 1534.
