1391, Nov. 15. John son of William de [Brescy], and Hugh son of Roger de Malpas, two of the parceners of the lordship of Wystanston, acknowledgement of the receipt by them from Roger le Brescy del Morefeld the fourth, of 11s. 4d. due to them and the other parceners of the said lordship for two places of land in Wystanton, which Roger le Brescy del Morefield, the second, lately purchased of William de Wystanton, formerly Lord of Wystanton. [14 & 15 Ric. 2]


1395-6, March 9.

The homage and services of Hugh son of Roger del Malpas are mentioned together with those of several others in connection with a fourth part of the manor of Malpas, in the writ of livery to William, son of William Brereton, the heir of Isabel, widow of John de Delves. They are also mentioned in the writ of livery to Philip son of Urian Egerton on the same date concerning lands which were the gift of Isabel.

1400, September 1. William de [Orreby], Roger de Bromley, John son of William le Brescy, John de Wordhull, and Hugh son of Roger del Malpas, to the Earl of Chester, recognizance in 113s. 4d., viz., 13s. 4d.. for a fine, and the residue for the issues of the manors of Hartherton, Walgherton, and Chirchecopenhale, unjustly received by the said William de Orreby.


1403: commission to Hugh del Malpas for Nantwich; also 1406.


1407: Hugh son of Roger del Malpas was a surety for Hugh de Wystanston.


1412: Hugh de Malpas, parson of a moiety of the church of Malpas and Hugh del Malpas, of Chatkyley, both appear in the same recognizance, for marriage of Joan, Sir John de Poole’s daughter, to John Hokes.


1417, June 13. Hugh del [Malpas], William de Bostok, of Nantwich, John del Wodehous, John de Alsacher, and Richard de Golbourn, appointment of, as collectors of a subsidy in the hundred of Nantwich. [4 & 5 Hen. 5]


1417-1418, Jan. 8. Robert de [Overton], licence to, to grant to Philip del Malpas, of London, draper, Hugh del Malpas, of Chatkeley, John de Hawardyn, of Chester, and William del Malpas, of Chester, 3 messuages 120 acres of land, 5 acres of meadow, 2 acres of turbary, and 30 acres of wood, in Clotton and Hulfeld, held of the Earl of Chester in capite. [5 & 6 Hen. 5.]

[1420/1] 8 Hen. V. Margaret, widow of Robert de Overton sued Philip, Hugh, and William del Malpas, for dower of 4 messuages, 100 acres of land, 20 acres of meadow, and 20 acres of wood, in Clotton and Hulfeld. Plea Rolls.

Grant by Richard le Fleccher, rector of Haselwall, and John Thikkenes to John son of Philip de Eggerton of a fourth part of the manor of Hampton and a fourth part of all the land, &c. in the county of Chester which together with William le Baxter, rector of the mediety of the church of Malpas, Richard Massy del Hogh, Hugh de Malpas of Chekley, John de Kynaston and Philip Fylkyn, since deceased, they had by the gift of John son of David de Malpas. Saturday after St. Ambrose, 15 Henry VI. Two seals, damaged.
