Date of Birth: about 1249

This date is given by Waugh (ODNB) and by the Complete Peerage (6:463). The inquisition post mortem of Humphrey’s father (CIPM C. Hen. III. File 34. (8). no. 654) states that he was aged 18 1/2 in 1267.

Place of Birth: unknown.


Date of Death: 31 December 1298.

Place of Death: Pleshey.

The date and place are given by Waugh (ODNB) and by the Complete Peerage (6:465). In an inquisition post mortem (CIPM Edw. I, File 92 (8)), Humphrey is stated to have died “at the manor of Plassetis on the eve of the Circumcision in the year abovesaid [27 Edw. I.]” The “Annales de Wigornia” s.a. 1298 (Luard p. 540) have: “Secundo kal. Januarii obiit Umfredus comes Herefordiæ, et in monasterio de Waledene sepelitur.”


Place of Burial: Walden Priory, Essex.

(8). no. 654), and in Dugdale (6:1:135), in an extract from the chronicle of the Abbey of Llanthony Secunda: “Humfredus sextus supradictus, post mortem matris suæ, vivente adhuc patre suo, desponsavit Alianoram de Brewes, hæredem de Brekenoke, prædicta: De quibus procreati fuerunt Humfredus septimus de Bohun, comes Herefordiæ et Essexiæ, constabularius Angliæ et dominus Breconiæ.”

This relationship is given by Waugh. It is recorded in the inquisition post mortem of Humphrey’s father (CIPM C. Hen. III. File 34. (8). no. 654), and in Dugdale (6:1:135), quoted above. It is also recorded in Dugdale (5:271).


Spouse: Maud de Fiennes. Married 1275.

This relationship is given by Waugh (ODBN) and by the Complete Peerage (6:463). Moor (1:107) notes the charter of marriage is dated 11 January 1275. The relationship is recorded in Dugdale (6:1:135) in an extract from the chronicle of the Abbey of Llanthony Secunda: “Humfredus septimus de Bohun desponsavit Matildem de Fenes.” Letters patent dated 15-20 June 1275 describing a marriage bond and arrangements for dower are given in the Calendar of Charter Rolls (Vol. 2, pp. 190-192).


Children:


Humphrey de Bohun (about 1276 - 16 March 1322) married Elizabeth of Rhuddlan 14 November 1302.
