John’s will:


In the name of god amen the seaventeeth day of July 1710 I John Key of Priors Marston in the county of Warwicke cordwainer being weak of body, but of sound and perfect Memory (praise be given to god for the same) and knowing the uncertainty of this Life on Earth and being desirous to settle things in order, do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following. that is to say, First and principally I commend my soul to Almighty God my creator, assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon and free Remission of my sins and be saved by the precious death and merits of my Blessed saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus, and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken, to be buried in such decent and Christian man[n]er, as to my Executor hearafter named shall be thought meet and convenient. And as touching such worldly estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent me, my will and meaning Is the same shall be Imployed and bestowed, as hereafter by this my Will in Expressed, And first, I do Revoke, and renounce, frustrate and make void all Wills by me formerly made And declare and appoint this my last Will and Testament. Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary the sum of Ten pounds to be paid unto her at the end of one whole year after my decease, if she mary, if she marry not, then to be paid to her by twenty shillings yearly, till the said sum of ten pounds be all paid I allso give her one pewter platter and one paire of sheets, Itm I give and bequeath unto my son George Key the sum of Ten pounds, to be paid to him at the age of twenty years or when he shall come to be twenty years old, also I give unto him (that is my son George my Best suit of cloathes, my best hat, and two of my best shirts, one pewter bason and pewter porringer, also my best stockins, with one table napkin. Itm I give unto my Daughter Sarah Key the sum of ten pounds to be paid to her when she shall come to the age of Eighteen years, also I give her the Bed in the parler with all the bedding belonging to it, with two pair of sheets and all the furniture of that Roome also I give her my brewing Ketttle and warming pan, one pewter platter, two pewter cup, two pewter spoons, and two wooden dishes, and two white Earthen platers, one Chest, one Table, one Box, one Joyned stool, and the two best Chairs, also I give her (that is my daughter Sarah) the weaning Calf or my best Cow, or which she shall best Like of and accept, with a bundle of Linins which are in my Cupboard, Itm I give unto my grand Daughter Sarah Tyllie, one sheep, six shillings of money, or which of the two she best likes of Itm I give all the Rest of my goods Chattells, utensels, and houshold stuff, undisposed of, together with my dwelling house ochard, yards backside, and all other the Edifices thereupon erected, with all my land lying in the open fields of Pryors Marston, together with the comons and Right of common thereunto belonging, unto my son John Key, and his heirs for ever, upon condition that he shall pay all my debts, and Legacies, and that he shall allow unto his Brother George, and his sister Sarah house Roome so long as they shall Keep themselves single providing for Sarah sufficient meat drink loding and apparell till she shall come to theage of sixteen years old, but if it so hap that they cannot agree to live together, he (that is my son John Key) shall pay unto her the sum of Twenty shillings yearly till she is sixteen years old. And do make and appoint my son John Key sole Executor of this my Last will and Testament In witness whereof I have hearunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written.
