Thomas’s will:


In the name of god Amen the fiftenthe of September Anno Domini one thousande five hundred eightie sixe/ I Thomas Plommer of the Towne and porte of new Romney in the County of Kent. Jurat beinge sick of bodie but of perfect minde and memorie thans be to Allmightie god doe make and ordaine this my Testament and last will the daie and yeare above saide in manner and fourme followinge viz / First I bequeath my soule into the handes of allmightie god hopinge to be saved by the death and resurrection of my lorde and Saviour Christ Jhesus And my bodie I comitt to be buried in the Churche or Church yarde of newe Romney aforesaid at the discretion of mine executors Item I give unto the poore of the parrishe of Burcklande twentie shillings of good and lawfull monie of England to be paide by mine executors wythin half a yeare after my decease uppon reasonable request makinge them sufficient Discharge/ Item I give towardes the reparacons of the p[ar]ishe Churche of Bruckland twentie shillings of like monie to be paide to the churche of Bruckland twentie shillings of like monie to be paide to the churche wardens there by mine executors in manner and fourme above saide Item I give and bequeathe unto Thomas Susan Elizabeth and Harrie the children of Joane Chalkcrofte my Daughter each of them forty shillings apeece to be paide by mine executors unto theire Father Wm Chalkcrofte within twoe yeares after my decease which some of eight poundes my will is that it shalbe imployed and laide out by the sayde William Chalkcrofte his executors or assignes to the benefitt and behoofe of the saide Thomas Susan Elizabeth and Harrie and everie of them untill theire severall age of eightene yeares. And yf yt happen anie of them to die before the yeares aforesaide my will is that the survivours or survivor shalbe his or heir heires/ Item I give and bequeathe unto Kathren Scotchforde my Daughters childe fortie shillings to be paide by my executors unto her Father Thomas Scotchforde within twoe yeares after my decease to be imployed as before for the benefitt of the childe till she come to her yeares of eightene/ Item my will is the bedd and beddsteede in the great chamber as the same bedd is now furnished my Cupborde in the parlour the table there and in the hall shall remaine and be unto him or of my sonnes that shall make his choise of my dwellinge howse in newe Romney, And my will is thother sonne shall have the Bedsteede at Broucklande with my new Tike to be filled with Fethers the best coverlett and all such things els as are for the furnishinge upp of a Bedd, Item I give unto Joane my maide servaunt twentie shillings to be paide by mine executors within one yeare after my decease/ All the residue of my goodes cattelles moveables plate houshould stuffe and implements whatsoever unbequeathed my Dettes paide leagacies p[er]formed and Funeralls discharged I wholie give and bequeathe unto my twoe sonnes William Plommer and John Plommer whome I make and ordaine exeucutors of this my pr[esen]te testament and last will by me Thomas Plommer Teste henr Stafford Stephen Worley John Plommer Sig: Hen Tomkin


This is the laste will and Testament of me the saide Thomas Plommer made and declared the Daie and yeare first above written concerninge the dispo[si]con of all my landes Tennaments leases Rentes Reversions and heraditaments whatsoever sett lyinge and beinge within the Countie of Kente or els where/ Item I give and bequeathe unto one of my sonnes my mansion house where I now dwell in New Romney aforesaid with the appurtenances and one hundred seaventene Acres and a yarde of marshe lande as followethe/ Fyrst I give him foure Acres aboute the house before given six Acres called Pale landes both lyinge in new Romney seaventene acres be yt more or lesse bought of William Eppes of old Romeney and lyinge the parrishe of hope allsaints one and twentie acres and a halfe of lande and marshe which were bought of William Edolfe of Rie and mistres Boys lyinge in the parrishe of Broucklande one acre and a halfe of mine inheritance which is a Bushe lyinge in Broucklande eightene acres and one yarde of lande and marshe more purchased of Thomas Edolfe of Rie lyinge in the parrish of Brucklande fourtene acres of marshe with a Tennament and a barne late purchased of master Cobb lyinge in the parrishes of Brensett and Bruckland Tenn Acres bought of William Maie late Towkers lyinge in the parrishes of Bresse and Brucklande twentie acres lyinge in fowre peeces given me with my wife lyinge in the parrishes of Bruckland and Ivichurche makinge upp and amountinge to the full nomber of one hundred and seaventene acres & one yarde. Item I give and my will is that the same my sonne shall have and enioye all the yeares of my lease of marshe lande lett me by maister Charles Allen Item my Will is and I doe by theis presentes give unto my other Sonne all the rest of my landes and Tennaments lyinge in newe Romney Ivichurche Brensett Broucklande or els where in the Countie of Kente with a lease and the tearme of yeares thereof then remaininge which I have of mistres Sentlonger lyinge in Broucklande and my will and mine is that my younger sonne John shall take his choice of my landes tennaments and leases thus before devided when he attaineth the full age of nintene yeares which parte he will take And the partes so taken I doe ratifie and give unto them and theire heires of theire bodies lawfullie begotten, provided allwaies that when they both shall have attained the full age of one and twentie yeares that then my will is that either of them shall make over firmelie in lawe a sufficient release or other assuraunce by Counsell unto thother uppon reasonable request thereof to be made in consideracon of a Dede given by theire grandfather Godfrey and me the saide Thomas of Fiftie acres of landes parcell of the landes before bequethed, And yf anie of them shall happen to refuse to release to the other or make assuraunce to the other his interest of and in his parte so to him as is aforesaid willed then my will is that he soe refusinge shall lose the benifitt of his parte of his landes so to him before willed and yt shall remaine to the other and his heires anie thinge herein contained to the contrarie in anie wise notwithstandinge, And yt is my will further that yf yt please god that one of my two sonnes William or John doe die before they come to the yeares of one and twentie and without issue of theire bodies lawfullie begotten that then yt is my will that the overliver shall have holde and enioy all my saide landes and tennamentes with the appurtenances to him and his heires forever, And further yt is my will that yf yt shall so please god that both my twoe sonnes William and John soe die without yssue of theire bodies lawfullie begotten That then my Three Daughters Johan Alice and Katheren shall have holde and enioye all my saide Landes and tenaments with the appurtenances to them and to he heires of theire bodies lawfullie begotten forever equallie to be devided betwene them In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hande the Daie and yeare above saide By me Thomas Plommer, Teste Henr Stafforde Stephen Worley John Plommer Signum Hen: Tomkins
