The date is given by Rowney (p. 300). He refers to him as “the short-lived Robert Winnington of Winnington.” Helsby (2:202) notes that a writ of Mandamus sued out September 27, 7 Henry VI to inquire of what lands “Robert son of Richard de Wynynton died seized,” although he also notes that these names were common to other branches of the family as well.

Commentary


Murphy and Rowney identify the Robert Winnington who died in 1428 as the husband of Margaret Norwood. Robert is described in the writ of mandamus issued on his death as “Robert son of Richard de Wynynton.” See also Arley Charter ARL/27/26 above.
