Mother: Alice de Vere.

This relationship is given by Kingsford (ODNB), who states that Alice was a cousin of William de Mandeville, earl of Essex, and niece of Aubrey (III) de Vere, earl of Oxford. Suppe (ODNB) states that Alice’s parents were Robert of Essex and his wife, Alice. Cawley notes that Domesday Descendants gives Alice [de Vere]’s father as Roger fitz Richard, the first husband of Robert of Essex’s wife, Alice.
