The will of Thomas’s possible father, Meredith Thomas:


In the name of God, Amen, the three and twentieth day of Mary one thousand six hundred sixetie five, I Meredith Thomas of the townshipp of Manleth in the parish of Llanidloes in the County of Montgomery and dioces of Bangor, being sicke in bodie but of good and perfect memorie laud and prayse to almighti god, doe make and ordayne this my present will and testament concerning wherein my last will, in maner and form following Vizt First I doe commit my soule unto allmighti god, my maker and redeemer, by whose merritts undoubtedly I hope to be saved, and my bodie to be buried in Christian burial in the parish church of Llanidloes It. I give towards the reparation of the same church the sume of five shillinges, to be payed by myne executors heerafter named within the space of one whole yeare after my decease; And for the settlinge of my lands betweene my 2 sonnes, John, and Thomas, being two tweenes, First I give and bequeath to my well beloved sonne John Meredith three several messuages or tenements called by severall names y Ty yn y Cwm, Doomynen Yffa, and the Ly maner, with all & singular houses, barnes, buildinges, edifices, with theire rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertayning lieinge and beinge in the parish of Penegos, now in the possession of Richard Evan Powell, Griffith Evan William and Lewis ap Richard, Item I doe give and bequeath to my like well beloved sonne Thomas Meredith two severall messuages or tenements called Tythyn Maes y Llynwent, and Tythyn Glynyestin, with all & singular houses, barnes, buildings, where I doe now inhabit togeather their members and appurtenances whatsoever, to my sayd sonne Thomas, and his heires forever, situate lieing and being in the townshipp of Manleth in the said parish of Llanidloes in as lardge and ... manner as I doe enjoy the same. I doe give to my youngest sonnes all my cattell with? --- by the --- heerunto --- togeather with all and singular my houshould stuffe?, and brasse, pewter, beddinges, linnens, woollen, and all things belonginge to my said house, moveable and immoveable whatsoever, to be equally devided between them when they accomplish the Full adge of one & twentie yeares, but if it fortune any should dye and depart this transitorie life before he accomplish the said adge my will is to give his or theire partes soo deceasing to the other of them then surviveinge, Item I give and bequeath to my sonne Thomas ... two parcells of landes called Kat Jenkin, the other called Errow Burrion which I lately bought and purchased of Elizabeth Lewes wydow now wife to John Powell situate in Manleth aforesaid, Kat Jenkin by Estinnaron Llwer Dwes(?), Errew Berrion, 3 quarters of Cm broe be it more, or lesse with its rights members and appurtenances, to my sayd sonne and his heires forever. Item I give to my stepsonne Griffith Thomas one two yeare olde heifer and tenn sheep, to be delivered him within one whole yeare after my decease. Item I nominate and appoint my well beloved sonnes Rees Meredith and Howell Meredith, executors of this my will and testament Item I do nominate ordayne appoint Rowland Glyn, William Rees, Rees Evans Jenkin Lewes Griffith Howell and Richard Edwardes overseers of this will to see it in all...respects performed , Item my will is that the rentes of all my landes & tenements in Penegos and Manleth dureing their minoritie shall be receaved? and disposed towards the maintenance of all my children in generall, accordinge to theire deserts att the oversight of the overseers, and if their bee any overplus of the said rent, that it should be given and bestowed to the ...ment of my youngest children. Item I doe utterly revoke disannull, ... and make voyed all former wills, by me heretofore made, In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand seale the day and year being above written
