Commentary
My argument for Susannah’s parentage is circumstantial. John and Eleanor Harris lived at Lickey End, just a few hundred meters from Joseph’s boyhood home at the Linthurst. John was a nailer, as were the Wards. In Joseph and Susannah’s St Martin’s Birmingham marriage record, they are both said to be of that parish, but I assume this is not very meaningful. One of the witnesses, Agnes Southwell, presumably a friend or relation of Susannah, was baptized in Bromsgrove in 1770. No Susannah’s were married or buried in Bromsgrove after Susannah’s baptism there in 1768. The main alternative I can see, a Susannah Harris who was baptized in Kidderminster in 1763, was probably married in Ribbesford in 1785.
Overall, I am fairly confident the parents I give for Susannah here are correct.
