Commentary
Richard’s parentage
In his 1767 will, William Bloxham of Burton Dassett names his brother Richard and Richard’s children William, John, Thomas, and Ann. The order of the sons’ names in the list of Richard’s children makes it certain that this is a reference to the Richard Bloxham of this page. In the will, William also names several other siblings (John Bloxham, Thomas Bloxham, Mary Barnes, Elizabeth Tysoe) and their spouses and children, as well as the husband and children of his late sister Sarah, whom he doesn’t mention by name. There is enough information to make clear that these siblings were the children of Samuel and Martha Bloxham baptized in Fenny Compton and Avon Dassett between 1694/5 and 1710:
Elizabeth Bloxham was baptized in 1694/5 in Fenny Compton and married John Tysoe in Coventry in 1725.
Richard Bloxham (the Richard of this page) was baptized in Avon Dassett (as were all the rest of the siblings) in 1696 and married Ann Padbury in 1723 in Chesterton.
William Bloxham (the William who wrote the will) was baptized in 1698/9 and married Elizabeth Pargiter in 1723 in Southam.
Thomas Bloxham was baptized in 1701 and married Elizabeth Perkins in 1728 in Berkswell.
Sarah Bloxham was baptized in 1702 and married Robert Green in 1735.
John Bloxham was baptized in 1705 and married Sarah Tee in 1730 in Coventry.
Mary Bloxham was baptized in 1707 and married John Barnes in 1731 in Avon Dassett.
Martha Bloxham was baptized in 1710 and is not mentioned in William’s will.
This is enough to establish that Richard Bloxham’s parents were Samuel Bloxham and his wife Martha.
