The parish register entries name the father, Robert, of the children, but not the mother. All baptisms and burials were in Thornton Dale, Yorkshire.)


Robert Maw (baptized 29 September 1689) married Ann Denham, widow, 10 August 1713 in St Sampson, York. Robert was a house carpenter in York.


William Maw (baptized 28 March 1692 - buried 10 May 1693).


John Maw (baptized 9 April 1694 - probably buried 1 November 1731).


William Maw (baptized 26 November 1696 - will dated 18 August 1748/proved 2 May 1753). William was an innkeeper. He was a Quaker.


James Maw (baptized 12 December 1700 - buried 1 April 1703).


Margaret Maw (baptized 27 December 1703) married Christopher Smales 18 February 1747 in Thornton Dale.


James Maw (baptized 22 July 1707 - died 1787) married Elizabeth Thompson 20 November 1737 in Pickering, Yorkshire.

Commentary


The most plausible construction of families appearing in the Thornton Dale registers gives Robert the parents and baptism I assign to him above, but the evidence is not quite definitive.
