Relationships

Father: William Brabant.

Mother: Alice Boys.

These parents are given in the 1623 Visitation of Surrey (Bannerman p. 31, citing Harl. 1561, fos. 29b and 30). The arms of Brabant and Boys are impaled, quarterly, by the arms of Bowyer in a shield in stained glass dated 1599. They also appear with Bowyer in a second shield dated 1596 (Collectanea Topographica et Genealogica 3:154). The shields come from a house in Norton Folgate which had been granted to Robert Draper (the father-in-law of Joan’s son, John Bowyer) after the dissolution of the monasteries. Ellis gives a sketch of the arms opposite page 193.

Spouse: John Bowyer.

This relationship is given by the 1623 Visitation of Surrey (Bannerman p. 31, citing Harl. 1561, fos. 29b and 30), and Ellis (p. 329).
