A transcription of the will of Elizabeth Keveredge


In the name of God Amen the tenth day of Aprril in the yere of our Lord god one thousand six hundred and six I Elizabeth Keveridge of Northam in the county of Sussex widdow beinge weake of body but in perfect memory thanks be to god Doe ordayne and make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge First I bequeath my soule to almighty god my Creator and redeemer and my body to be buried within the parish church of Northam aforesaid at the discretion of my Executrix Item I give unto the poore people of the parish of Northam twenty shillings to be distributed at my burial Item I give unto Hall Ravenscroft forty shillings Item I give unto Anne Ravenscroft forty shillings Item I give unto Elizabeth Ravenscroft forty shillings Item I give unto Jane(?) Ravenscroft forty shillings Item i give unto Bridgett Ravenscroft forty shillings [illegible] John Ravenscroft gent my sonne and was given unto mee by my brother George Hall deceased Item I give unto Elizabeth Ravenscroft my goddaughter one little silver salt one like peece of [...] with two eares two payre of sheets one payre of pettecoates two plates two pewter dishes and two sawsers Item I give unto Thomas Taylor brother of the sayd George twenty shillings of gold to be payd unto him within one yeare next after my decease Item I give unto the foure sonnes of Richard Butterwicke gent which he had by Margaret my daughter ten shilings a peece Item I give unto Margarett Butterwicke daughter of the sayd Richard the five pounds which is in the hands of my sayd sonne John Ravenscroft together with the profit thereof Item I give unto all the children of my sonne in law Edward Parkhurst except Elizabeth Woodgate twenty shillings a peece to be payd unto them within one yere next after my decease Item I give unto Arthur Woodgate the younger my godsonne twenty shillings to be payd within one yeare next after my decease Item my will and meaninge is that Edward Parkhurst my sonne in law shall have to his owne use the use and profit of all that my lands and tenements which I purchased of Sir John Caryl knyght lying in the parish of Horsham from the day of my death unto the feast of St Michael tharchangell then next followinge and after the sayd feast of St Michaell tharchangell for and duringe one whole yeare then next ensuinge and after the sayd yeare ended I give unto John Ravenscroft my sonne in consideration that he shall make unto my Executrix one acquittance or other sufficient discharge for the somme of one hundred markes given unto him by the will of Peter Ravenscroft his father all my sayd lands and tenements which I purchased of Sir John Caryll knight for the terme of his life and after his decease I give all those my sayd lands unto the sayd Hall Ravenscroft and the heires of his body lawfully begotten and for default of such issue my will is that it shall remayne unto Elizabeth my daughter and the heires of her body lawfully begotten and for lacke of such issue to the right heires of me the sayd Elizabeth Keveridge for ever provided alwaies and my will and meaninge is that if my sayd sonne John Ravenscroft doe or shall in any wise sue molest or trouble my Executrix for or concerninge the sayd one hundred markes given unto him by the will of Peter Ravenscroft his father as afore sayd or for or concerning ay parte there of or for or concerninge any other of my goods or chattells whatsoever other then such as are intended to be here by given unto him that then the sayd Elizabeth my daughter shall presently after such sute molestation or trouble have and enioy all my sayd lands which I purchased of the sayd Sir John Caryll as aforesayd to her and her heires for ever payinge unto the say John Ravenscroft or his assignes the sayd somme of one hundred markes and the sayd John Ravenscroft and Hall Ravenscroft and other of them there heires and assignes to be utterly secluded and barred to clayme or have any title or interrest in or to the sayd lands by force of this my will or otherwise. Item I give and bequeath unto my sayd sonne John Ravenscroft my Cubberd in the great chamber my furnace in the brewhouse my Jayine stongs for two Chymnneys which ly in the outer parlor and all the waynscot in the house all the residue of my goods and Chattels plate and Jewells whatsoever not hereby before given I give and bequeath unto the sayd Elizabeth my daughter whome I ordayne and make my sole Executrix of this my last will and testament and I ordayne and make Overseers of this my will my trusty and wellbeloved friends Richard Michell and Richard White and I give unto eyther of them for there paynes then shillings a peece in witnes whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale in the presence of the witnesses here under named being here unto specialy called and requested.
