Commentary
Ann’s parentage:
Ann’s 30 April 1816 burial record gives her age at death as 45. This is exactly consistent with the 24 March 1771 baptism of Ann Degg in Stone, Staffordshire. There is no other baptism of an Ann Degg in Staffordshire in the indexes within several years of 1771.
The baptism entry records Ann’s parents as “Will.m and Mary Degg”. William and Mary’s eldest child was baptized in 1749. William Degg married Mary Davill in 1747 in Chebsey, which is the only marriage in the indexes between a William Degg and a Mary in Staffordshire in the relevant time period.
