Thomas’s will:


In the name of God Amen the ninth day of Augst in the year of our Lord God 1716 I Thomas Ball of New Roe in the p[ar]ish of North Meals in the County of Lancaster husbandman being Weake of Bodie & much out of ordre but of perfect in mind & memorie Praised be to allmighty God For the same and uncertaine of the shortness of my time & mynded to depart this Life untestaied doe therefore ordaine & make this my Last Will & testament in maner & forme as Followeth

And first and most principally I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Allmyghtie God my maker hopeing through the onlie merits & medieation of my Blessed Savior Jesus Christ to be Saved & plased amongst his Elect at the Great day of Judgment & I bequeath my Bodie to the Earth Whereof it was maid and to be Buried in the p[ar]ish Church yard of North Meals Aforesd: at after my decease According to the discration of my Execrs: here after named in decent order as they shall thinke meett & Convenient in full hope of a Joyefull Resorection and for to avoide all differences Which in aney Ways might happen tautching & Concerning the smale porcon of worldly Goods which God hath bestowed uppon me. I dispose of the same as Followeth

Item first it is my will & mind that all my due Debts and funarell Expences shall be taken Forth paid and discharged forth of my whole Goods that being done then it is my Will & mind & I doe Give and bequeath out of my whole Goods to my son Richard ball my Coult & then it is my mind & will & I bequeath unto my son John three pounds & I Give to my sone Richard foure pounds and I Give & bequeath to my daughter Ann Ball the wife of John Ball three pounds to be paide by my son William and my son Thomas att after the decease of Alice Ball my sd Wife to be paide Equally by my twoo sons that is to say Wm: & Thomas my son Wm: is to pay backe againe that five pounds that I Lent him Likeways my son Thomas five pounds When he entereth of the Roe hey feild Which I purched of my maste Rodger Hesketh Eqr: & it is my mind & will to settle & Assigne over that that whoe feild dureing the Life or Lives of the sd: Leas of the abovesd: Feild to my son Thomas his heres Exers: Admts: And Assignes att after the decease of Alice my sd: Wife or att her marrieing againe payeing the Full sume of five pounds att the Entring thereof Item I Give & bequeath to three of my Sons & my daughter Ann Ball 02:00 Which is oweing to me by John Boond of Litle London to be devided amongst them as Followeth I Give to my son William tenn Shillings & to my son John tenn shillings & to my Son Richard twenty shillings & I Give to my daughter Ann Ball tenn shillings & I doe Give & bequeath my share of the fishing Boate to Gether With the Rest of the Sea Gear belonging to the Fishing traid to Alice Ball my sd: wife to be att her desposeing & to be used att my sd: house as they have been formarly If my sons will stay with there mother & then it is my minde & Will that all the Residue & the Remainder of my sd: Goods & Cattels what soe Ever shall be devided into twoe Equall parts the first one half I bequeath to my sd: Wife Alice the other Halfe I bequeath amongst all my Children Wm: Tho: John: Rob: Ricd: my sons & Ann my daughter to be Equally devided amongst them & then it is my mind & will that my sd: wife shall have & hould all the sd: messages & tenaments that are now in my possession att after my decease Wholly to her selfe duering her Life If Alice Ball my sd: wife doe not marrie againe & If she my sd: wife doe Contract marriag with aney person then it is my mind & will that she my ds wife not to have aney part or parsell of the abovesd Roe hey: & then I doe ordaine & make & apoint Alice Ball & Gilbart Wright my whole Executts of this my Last Will & testament Giveing & alloweing to Gilbart Wright five shings to stand hopeing they will see the same truly Executed as my trust in them is dissanulling all will or testaments heretofore maid by me maid in Wittness where unto I sett my hand & seal the day & year first above writtne in the pts: of
