The PBW states that Trojan was the son of John Vladislav of Bulgaria, although the source they cite, Bryennios 219.20, gives Samuel of Bulgaria as Trojan’s father [Passage from Bryennios here.] Kazhdan gives Troian’s parents as John Vladislav and Maria.

Mother: unknown.

The PBW notes that she was said to be a descendant of the Kontostephanos, Abalates, and Phokas families. [Passage from Bryennios here.] Settipani (pp. 283-5) proposes that she was a daughter of Basileios Kontostephanos.

Spouse: Andronikos Doukas.

This relationship is given by Polemis, by Kazhdan and by the PBW, citing Bryennios 219.16-17; Pantokrator Typikon 219.
