September the 22d 1757. before the Reverd John Perkes, Clerk Surrogate duly appointed.

On wch Day appeared personally, William Leese the elder of the Parish of Barlastone, in the County of Stafford, & Diocese of Lichfield & Coventry, Farmer; & being sworn, upon the holy Evangelists, alledged & made oath as followeth, - That he is of the age of 21 years & upwards, & a widower, and intends to marry Jane Degge, of the Parish of Stone, in the County of Stafford, & Diocese of Lichfield & Coventry, widow; not knowing or believing any lawful Lett or Impediment, by Reason of any Precontract entred into before the 25th Day of March, 1754, Consanguinty Affinity, or any other lawful means to hinder the said intended marriage: and he pray’d a Licence to solemnize the said marriage in the Chappel of Fulford in the Parish Church of Stone, & County of Stafford; in wch said Parish of Stone, he the said William Leese farther made oath that she the said Jane Degge that had her usual abode, for the space of four weeks last past.

The said William Leese was duly sworn before John Perkes. Surrogate. William Leese the elder his mark. +
