Commentary
Ann’s parentage
In his diary, Roger Lowe makes frequent mention of his friend James Naylor’s wooing of Ann Barrow. In his entry for 6 December 1663, he notes: “[I] cald att Henry Barrow’s in Goleborne, but Ann Barrow was gone frome home, so I came forward to Roger Naylor and stayd supper – Roger forced me to stay.” Roger was James Naylor’s father.
In his 1664 will, Harry Barrowe the elder of Goleborne named his daughter Anne Barrowe.
