Mary’s parentage:
The 1661 will of William Scott of Woodwarde in Chaddesley Corbett does not name Mary, but names his son-in-law William Cole without stating the name of the daughter he was married to. The will also names his son-in-law Nicholas Cooper and Nicholas’s son Francis Cooper. Mary Scott married William Cole in 1660 in Chaddesley Corbett, and Ann Scott married Nicholas Cooper there in 1636.
The 1713 will of Mary’s son William Cole names his cousin Francis Cooper.
Taken together, this evidence enables us to identify Mary’s father as the William Scott of the 1661 will.
The baptisms of Ann and Mary, as well as Margaret (another daughter named in William’s will), as well as a few other children, are recorded in the Chaddesley Corbett registers.
In her baptism entry, Mary’s parents are recorded as William and Elizabeth Scott. William Scott married Elizabeth Taylor in 1607 in Chaddesley Corbett.
