Cawley notes that the relationship is recorded in Dugdale (6:1:135) in an extract from the chronicle of the Abbey of Llanthony Secunda: “Humfridus sextus supradictus, post mortem matris suae, vivente adhuc patre suo, desponsavit Alianorum de Brewes, haeredem de Brekenoke, praedicta.” Eleanor is also named as Humphrey’s wife in his inquisition post mortem (CIPM C. Hen. III. File 34. (8). no. 654). Eleanor is also named as Humphrey’s wife in Dugdale (5:271) (the Abbey of Tintern).
