Commentary
Susan’s parentage
In his 1608 will, William Haye of Battle, Sussex, named his daughter Susan Scrase and his son-in-law “Mr. Tuppin Scrase”.
The Salehurst parish register records the baptism in 1585 of Susan the daughter of William Haye.
William Haye’s first wife, buried in Salehurst in 1593, was named Dorothy, as shown in several documents from the 1580s and early 1590s. A copy of a conveyance from 1592 adds that Dorothy’s father was William Aneston. See the Evidence section on William’s page for more information.
