Commentary
John was probably born between 1633 and 1643, when there was a gap in the Disley registers. Reignald and Joan were married in 1615 and had children baptized in Disley until the 1633 gap. They were both recorded as being of Coppey in Lyme in their burial entries. Also, John’s eldest son was named Reignald.
A Henry Richardson of Lyme, who died in 1679 leaving a will, had a son John, but the will of Henry’s wife Jane makes clear that this son was the John Richardson of Adlington who died in 1688 (leaving a will mentioning his wife Mary and children Henry and Ann), not the John of this page.
