23 June 1335 at Appleton.  Tho. de Danyers to Sir Geoff. de Werburton, knight. Release of all common of pasture, haybote, turbary, and other eftovers in respect of his land in Bradley, which he had by the gift of Sir Peter de Werburton, knight, except the right to get marl and clay for his land out of a place in Bradley.


22 April 1347 at Arley.  Geoffrey Warburton, the elder, to Tho. Danyers, the elder, and the heirs of his body. Grant of three acres of land in Appleton, near the boundaries of High Legh.

Thomas de Legh Lord of the Moiety of High-Legh, son and Heir of Richard de Limme, by Agnes de Legh Daughter and Heir of Richard de Legh de West-Hall in High-Legh, was Sirnamed de Legh from the Place of his Residence, after the manner of those Ages. He had to Wife Cicely which Thomas and Cicely were both living 1305. Lib. C. fol. 267. num. 11. and had Issue Thomas Legh, Son and Heir; Margery, a Daughter, married William Son and Heir of Robert Massy of Tatton: Lib. C. fol. 267. num. 12. Agnes married William Daniell of Limme: Lib. C. fol. 233. a. Sed quaere if Agnes were not Sister to Thomas Legh the Father. He had also two younger Sons; John Legh, on whom he setled Lands in Limme, 1 Edw. 2. and William Legh: Lib. C. fol. 268. num. 25.

Thomas Danyers senior had to his second Wife Joan Norreys, by whom he had Issue Thomas Danyers, afterwards Sir Thomas Danyers of Over-Tabley: Lib. C. fol. 244. E. Henry, another Son, to whom his Father gave the Marriage of the Heir of William Clerke of Over-Tabley, 28 Edw. 3. Ibid. fol. 235. P. And Richard, another Son, living 6 Rich. 2. Ibid. fol. 241.m.


Thomas Danyers made his Will, 28 Edw. 3. 1354. and was buried at Limme. Joan Norreys his Widow maried after William Bostock of Bostock: Lib. C. fol. 244. M. 9.


This Thomas Danyers was Sheriff of Cheshire 25 & 27 Edw. 3.

1354. November 28. London.

Order to Thomas le Young, escheator of Cheshire, to certify the prince by the quinzaine of Hilary next why he has seized into the prince’s hand the manor of Lostok Gralam, together with two parcels of land in Hale and Assheleye and a parcel of land called ‘Haukeshurst,’ which Joan late the wife of Thomas Danyers and Henry, her son, hold of the gift and feoffment of John Massie, chaplain, and William Norreis, and a third part of Overtabelee, which the said Henry holds of the like gift and feoffment; and to deliver the premises to the said Joan, together with the issues, on her giving security to answer therefor in case it be found that the prince has a right therein.   By petition endorsed.


Order to the same, at the request of Joan late the wife of Thomas Danyers, to assign to her a reasonable dower out of the lands of her late husband in the county of Cheshire.    By petition endorsed.

Order to Thomas le Younge, the prince’s yeoman and escheator of Cheshire, – inasmuch as the inquisition taken by him on a diem clausit extremum touching the death of Thomas Danyers does not specify what estate Thomas had, whether for his own life or the life of another, nor of whose gift he had it or how, nor whose the reversion is, nor to whom he demised the lands in Haukeshurst after acquiring them from the lord de Grey, – to make a fresh inquisition touching the above points with all speed.
